Supplements to strengthen the immune system
Eating foods rich in vitamins, sleeping well, hydrating properly and following a healthy lifestyle is the best way to ensure the proper functioning of the immune system.
But in some periods of the year, such as the change of season or in winter, a supplement can be a valid aid in strengthening the immune system.
Vitamins for an efficient immune system
- Vitamin C is one of the best known and most powerful regulators of the immune system and its deficiency can weaken the body making it more vulnerable to infections. Vitamin C-rich foods include oranges, grapefruit, tangerines, strawberries, peppers, spinach, kale, and broccoli.
- Vitamin B6 supports biochemical reactions in the immune system. It is found in good quantities in chicken, salmon and tuna, but also in chickpeas and vegetables.
- Vitamin E is a powerful antioxidant that helps fight infection. It is found in nuts, seeds and spinach.
It is certainly preferable to take vitamins through food, but in certain periods of the year or when a balanced and varied diet is not followed, they can be taken on the advice of the pharmacist.
