Heat stroke in animals: how to recognize it
The most frequent symptom is an increase in temperature up to and above 41°C.
Not always present but more frequent in more serious conditions:
- Weakness
- Killing
- Cardiocirculatory collapse
- Vomiting and diarrhea
Treatment of heat stroke
The application of cold compresses to the groin area and paw pads can accelerate the lowering of body temperature. Some ice compresses can be applied to the animal's head to accelerate the cooling of the brain.
How to prevent heat stroke
- Always leave fresh water available;
- Avoid the hottest and most humid hours;
- Do not leave in closed or poorly ventilated places (car).
